Time Flies!

Where has the year gone? I've been absent from blogging to focus on my Room 25 Kids this past year. It's certainly been busy. I've found that it's really difficult to blog and teach at the same time. There's just too much to do. I'm excited to come back now that the year is winding down. I've been busy cleaning and packing up the classroom for the upcoming summer construction. Here are a few recent events that I've enjoyed!

The most awesome Field Day ever. My favorite event-- the giant parachute!

The Muppets

Last weekend, I finally headed out to see "The Muppets."  I took two young friends with me (this year's Catwalk winner and former fabulous student and a friend of her choice) and off we went!  It brought back so many fond memories of everything Muppets from when I was little.  I'm so glad that "The Muppets" is being introduced to a whole new generation!

Picasso at the De Young

It was a lovely Sunday today, and I headed up to San Francisco to see the Picasso exhibit before it leaves town tomorrow.

All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.

Pablo Picasso is a Spanish artist who many people consider to be the most important artist of the 20th century. This exhibit showed pieces from the Musee National Picasso Museum in Paris.

Seattle

While enjoying a lovely Labor Day weekend in Seattle, Washington, I was introduced to a fabulous new book series starring Larry the Dog.

Larry and his owner, Pete, love to travel to different cities... The only trouble is that Larry is always getting lost!

While I was at the bookstore, I couldn't resist buying two new books to share with the class, so I could tell them all about the city of Seattle and my trip.

Where have I been?

This is the reason I've been so absent from blogging lately... It took a lot of work to get the classroom ready for the first day of school! Thank goodness for the all the help from former students and parents. It was a great first day!

New Seuss!

Most people are familiar with Dr. Seuss, Theodore Seuss Geisel, and his famous books. His familiar rhyming style is known for being a favorite among kids, teachers, and parents. Some of his more famous works include The Cat in the Hat, The Grinch who Stole Christmas, Hop on Pop, and more.  There are almost too many to name!  Although Dr. Seuss passed away in 1991, he has a new book coming out in September!  How can this be?  Well, these stories were originally written for magazines, but were never published as a book.  Finally, everyone will get their chance to read the new book, The Bippolo Seed and Other Lost Stories.

Otis

Meet Otis, the skydiving pug!

Otis is a ten year old pug, who is not afraid of heights. In fact, he loves being up in the air, flying and skydiving with his owner, Will DaSilva. These are photos of Otis getting ready for his 64th skydive in Lodi, California. In order to skydive, Otis needs to wear a harness, just like the human skydivers. Then, his harness is strapped to his owner's harness, and then they are ready to get into the plane that will take them up into the air.
